Pillar · Shipbuilding & Shipyard Logistics

Shipyard logistics that keeps the beat.

We move heavy lift, project cargo, hull sections and plant components to the quay on schedule – with pre-notification, permits and interim storage. As a family business since 1992, right at the Container Terminal Bremerhaven, we know the berth schedules of Northern Germany's shipyards and deliver when the crane is free.

Why Binder for shipyards

Project logistics that works at the berth.

Shipyards work to a beat. If a section arrives too late the crane stands idle – if it arrives too early it blocks the quay. We plan heavy-lift and project transports so that plant components and sections arrive exactly on the berth schedule: with pre-notification, the required permits and an interim warehouse that buffers instead of braking. It is precisely this interlocking, run out of Bremerhaven, that sets us apart from any ordinary forwarder.

Heavy lift & project cargo

We move heavy and oversized plant components, machines and sections with pre-notification, permits and the right cargo securing – from the ramp to the quay.

On-schedule shipyard supply

We work to the berth schedule. Delivery exactly when the crane is free – no blocked quay, no standstill on the build.

Interim storage

Over 14,000 m² of storage for sections, plant components and supplies. We buffer, pick and call off exactly on schedule.

What we move

  • Hull sections & assemblies in shipbuilding
  • Plant and machine components (heavy lift)
  • Oversized project cargo with permits
  • Supply parts for shipyards & outfitters
  • Container and general cargo for yard needs

Which services

  • Pre-notification & permits for heavy lift

Northern Germany network

From Bremerhaven to every quay in the north.

The shipyards and outfitters of Northern Germany are spread along the coast – from Bremerhaven and Bremen via Hamburg and Emden to Kiel and Papenburg. We move project cargo and heavy lift between these locations with our own fleet and a dispatcher who knows the region. Because our yard sits right at the Container Terminal Bremerhaven (A27), we reach the seaport fast and the shipyard quay just as fast. Short distances mean less standing time and lower costs for the client.

Heavy lift needs lead time. Oversized plant components and heavy sections don't simply set off – they need route permits, coordinated driving times and the right cargo securing. We handle the pre-notification, the permits with the relevant authorities and the coordination with the shipyard so that the cargo stands at the quay exactly on the berth schedule. In between, our warehouse buffers: we store sections and plant components and call them off on schedule instead of blocking the quay prematurely.

As an AEO-C certified family business in its third generation, we document every step without gaps – from take-over through interim storage to delivery. This gives shipyards and project managers the certainty that schedules, condition and whereabouts are traceable at any time. Tell us weight, dimensions, source and destination – we tell you how we bring it to the quay on schedule.

Frequently asked questions

Shipyard logistics – explained briefly.

What weights and dimensions can you move?

We move general cargo, containers and heavy lift up into the range of oversized project cargo. For heavy sections and plant components we tailor the vehicle, cargo securing and permits individually to weight and dimensions. Give us the key figures and we will tell you exactly how and when we deliver.

Do you need lead time for heavy lift?

Yes. Oversized and heavy transports need route permits, coordinated driving times and sometimes escorts. The earlier we have the key figures, the more reliably we keep the berth schedule. For permit-bound heavy lift, plan for a few days of lead time.

Do you store sections in the interim?

Yes. On over 14,000 m² of storage we buffer sections, plant components and supplies and call them off exactly on the berth schedule. That keeps the quay free until the crane is actually ready.

Do you also drive directly onto the shipyard?

Yes. We deliver to the quay on schedule and work to the shipyard's berth windows. With our own fleet and local knowledge across Northern Germany – from Bremerhaven and Bremen via Hamburg and Emden to Kiel and Papenburg.

Who takes care of the permits?

We do. Pre-notification, route permits with the relevant authorities and coordination with the shipyard are all handled out of Bremerhaven – including complete documentation.
