Service · Customs Clearance

Customs without waiting days.

We handle your import clearance, T1 transit procedures and temporary storage directly at the Container Terminal Bremerhaven. AEO-C certified, connected to ATLAS and – if you wish – combined with warehousing and transport from a single source. That way your goods leave the port instead of generating demurrage.

Why Binder for customs

Customs expertise that is at home at the terminal.

Customs is not a by-product for us but a well-rehearsed core discipline. As a third-generation family business and an AEO-C-certified economic operator, we know the processes at the seaport of Bremerhaven in detail – from vessel tracking through the ATLAS declaration to the physical release of goods. Because our yard is less than six kilometres from the quayside and we run our own trucks and more than 14,000 m² of warehouse space, clearance, handling and transport mesh seamlessly. That saves you interfaces, demurrage and follow-up questions.

Import via ATLAS

We file your customs declaration for release into free circulation electronically via ATLAS – including correct tariff classification, customs value determination and import duties. Customs duty and import VAT are calculated and documented cleanly.

T1 transit procedure

We open and discharge T1 transit procedures for uncleared goods. This lets you move shipments from the port to the destination under customs supervision without triggering import duties prematurely.

Storage at the port

In our bonded warehouse you bridge the time until the customs decision – weather-protected and customs-approved. Non-Union goods remain stored securely and documented until clearance is complete.

Customs from a single source

Clearance, warehouse and transport – without friction.

The advantage of customs clearance right at the seaport lies in proximity. Thanks to vessel tracking we know days in advance when your container arrives, book the slot at the terminal and dispatch our own trucks so the goods roll into our warehouse without waiting days. Clearance takes place there while the shipment is already stored safely – instead of expensive lay time at the port.

Because we offer clearance, storage, warehousing and distribution under one roof, the classic interfaces between customs agent, warehouse keeper and carrier disappear. One shipment, one contact, one continuous set of documents. That not only reduces sources of error but also makes your cost structure transparent and your delivery times plannable.

For the customs declaration we need a customs power of attorney as well as the usual accompanying documents – commercial invoice, packing list, freight documents and, where applicable, preference proofs or import licences. On this basis we handle all communication with customs, take care of the correct classification in the customs tariff and keep you informed of every change in status.

Frequently asked

Customs clearance – briefly explained.

What is a T1 procedure?

The T1 transit procedure is an external Union transit procedure for uncleared non-Union goods. It allows goods to be moved under customs supervision from the port to a destination within the EU without import duties becoming due at the port. We open the T1 and discharge it properly at the destination.

What does a customs clearance cost?

That depends on the type of goods, the volume of the shipment and the desired scope of service. In addition to our handling fee, the statutory import duties apply – customs duty and import VAT, depending on tariff number and customs value. Tell us the type and volume and you will receive a concrete quote.

What does your AEO-C status give me?

As an AEO-C-certified economic operator we are regarded by customs as particularly reliable. In practice this means fewer physical and documentary controls, faster and prioritised clearance and access to simplified procedures – and therefore more plannable lead times for your shipments.

How quickly is a container cleared?

If the documents are complete and no inspection is ordered, an import declaration via ATLAS is usually completed the same day. Because our yard is less than six kilometres from the terminal, we lose no time between release and onward transport.

Do you need a customs power of attorney?

Yes. To file the customs declaration in your name we need a customs power of attorney as well as the usual accompanying documents such as commercial invoice, packing list and freight documents. We provide the power of attorney so we can communicate with customs directly and with legal certainty.
